Acoustic Sliding Gate Installation, Melbourne Shopping Complex
Case Study | Acoustic Gate Project | Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Lee Group designed, fabricated, and installed a bi-parting, ground mounted sliding gate for a major shopping complex in Melbourne, Victoria. Spanning 14 metres wide and standing 7 metres tall, the structure combines acoustic panelling with full automation, giving the site a gate system built to manage both access and noise at an industrial scale.
Each gate leaf weighs approximately 7 tonnes and was fabricated in three large sections, a decision made to allow safe transportation and controlled on-site assembly rather than attempting to move a single 7 tonne span across metropolitan roads. Tunnel posts and a custom track system were engineered specifically to carry this weight while keeping the gate moving smoothly under daily use.
At this scale, there is no margin for approximation. Every post, track, and connection point was engineered to hold and move several tonnes of steel and acoustic panelling without compromise, day after day.
Shopping complexes operate long hours with constant vehicle and pedestrian movement, and a gate of this size needs to disappear into that routine rather than slow it down. Lee Group’s solution pairs acoustic panelling with a custom sliding gate motor, giving the site a fully automated system that manages access smoothly while reducing noise transfer for everyone working and shopping nearby.
Lee Group is a Melbourne based contractor with deep experience in large scale gates and automation for commercial and industrial sites across Victoria. We work with retail operators, developers, and facility managers on projects that demand precision engineering, safe logistics, and a finished result that performs reliably from day one.
Every project we deliver is an opportunity to raise the standard, for structural performance, for safety, and for the sites we build alongside.
