Railway Safety Fence – 2500 metres installed in 32 hours!

Working 24 hour shifts over the weekend of the 24th and 25th February 2018, Lee Group installed 2500 metres of delineation fencing for the works on the Ballarat Railway Line Upgrade. The 2500 metres of delineation fencing is a permanent / temporary safety fence to allow the current rail line to remain operational whilst the new duplicate line is being constructed.

The rail line was closed over the weekend to allow us to install the safety fencing in the rail corridor to duplicate the rail track between Deer Park West and Melton. Doing the installation at this hour of the day over a weekend minimises the impact to commuters and ensures the safety of the community and the railway workers. Contracted by Lend Lease and Coleman Rail, our installers commenced work on-site at 12.01am on Saturday Morning and worked continuous shifts until Sunday 10pm.

“We had a goal to finish installing the 2500 metres of fencing by a required time. Our staff worked extremely efficiently and we finished our 2500 metres by 7.30am on Sunday morning, well ahead of schedule. I was extremely proud of our team to finish our installation target ahead of time. It was a busy weekend, working odd hours, but it has highlighted our capabilities to install large quantities of fencing within strict time constraints” said Lee Group Construction Manager, Nick Wells.
