If you are driving in or around Citylink’s Power Street Loop you will notice strange looking structures being protected by a Lee Group Security Chain Wire Fence.
Lee Group manufactured and installed a 2100mm high PVC coated chain link fence to the perimeter of the Power St site. The posts were also cranked and barbed wire added, to ensure the fence is both intimidating and hard to climb.

These strange structures are a new Habitat Filter for Transurban. The Habitat Filter features a series of pods with a range of sustainability elements including specially designed nesting boxes for birds and bats, solar panels to offset lighting at night and the use of recycled materials. Transurban also partnered with Landcare to re-vegetate the site with native plants.
The regenerate Power Street site will positively contribute to the surrounding cultural landscape of the area and provide a new landmark in the heart of Melbourne’s arts precinct.
This Habitat Filter is the beginning of a series of projects that demonstrate how Transurban can engage the community to rethink the use of vacant land along our roads to make our city more liveable.
